They're Giving Me Good Vibrations

If it comes as a shock to you that some of the most sex-positive,
diverse, and educational smut I've ever seen comes from the folks
at Good Vibrations (via Sexpositive Productions), you haven't been paying attention for the last decade or so.
If it's even more surprising that the videos coming out of Good
Vibrations are not only all of those things, but fun, funky, real,
playful, kinky, explicit and incredibly hot? Well, it's high time
you start paying attention, lest you miss out on the action.
I make a point of telling anyone sending me video porn for review
that I have a really hard time getting into the stuff. For the
most part, watching porn is usually more of an exercise in comedy
than in arousal for me (which isn't to say that can't be fun as
well, but it isn't usually the intended effect). When a company
sends it along despite my disclaimers, it's usually a giveaway
that they know they have something special. And that was certainly
the case with the following films from Good Vibrations.
I have so many good things to say about the variety of goodies
offered by not just each of these films, but within each film,
so, without further foreplay...
Please Don't Stop
How do I love this? Let me count the ways. This was my favorite
of all four films, without a doubt. Allow me first to warn you,
since it may be a bit alien to many porn purveyors: like films
from SIR Video, what you're getting when you open this puppy is lesbian smut.
I'm not talking about what Darcy and Muffy do for studly Joey
to get him off, in case mainstream porn has skewed what "lesbian"
means to you. I'm talking about dykes, here, people, the real
deal -- women who dig other women even when the cameras are off.
Most of the actresses involved even have, like, body hair in places
besides a landing strip on their mons. Fancy that! Waltzing
into this lesbian roundtable feels like lunch with your girlfriends,
except that it's interspersed with hot, real, voyeuristic sex
(if that's included in lunch with your girlfriends often, more
power to you). In the context of a group sex talk about female
anatomy, safer sex, toys and lesbian sex practices, this all-dyke
cast of color, identity, size and age diversity gets it on: intimately,
genuinely and deliciously. Please Don't Stop represents for real, and breaks down the barriers and the "non-discussables"
in some lesbian communities: anal play, strap-on sex and safer
sex for dykes.
Please Don't Stop has some gorgeous scenes, including an amazing female ejaculation
scene and a sensation play finale with a tender but torrid series
of orgasms that are just breathtaking. Solitary moments and close-ups
in the film are used beautifully.
If I could send a copy of this to every lesbian who has ever written
me yearning for community, information and a friendly, funny,
candid and umm... inspiring approach to lesbian sex, we'd all be happy campers. Actually,
if Trick Ready, who plays a sumptuous garage butch in the film,
and who I hold responsible for my biting through my lower lip,
could just come over to my house and provide it personally, one
of us would be a REALLY happy camper, but I digress. This sort
of film is so vital in GLBT circles: not only is it hard as hell
to find porn that reflects hot but real lesbian sexual scenarios
(with women of varied color, size and age no less), the information
alone is all too hard-to get -- it's going to be a rare thing
if Mom or Aunt Julie can (and will) tell you how to use cling
film for cunnilingus, or how to use a strap-on properly. Creating
a venue to provide that information in the context of smoking
hot smut? Brilliant.
Slide Bi Me
If you're looking for a smooth transition from mainstream porn
to an indie, Slide Bi Me may be just the ticket. It's not without some mainstream conventions,
but it uses them to fiddle with the genre and hype up the comedy
during this orgiastic romp.
The setup goes like this: it's the annual office picnic for an
insurance company whose company guidelines clearly have a lot
of leeway in the sexual harassment department. It doesn't take
long for everyone to grab a partner or six, even after the party
is invaded by a renegade butch biker and a femme male cop.
Here's my favorite part: the fine folks at Good Vibes, unlike
the rest of the pornographic universe, seem to have noticed that
not just women, but men too happen to be bisexual(!), and that
multi-gender bisexual play can involve men actually touching each
other beyond high-fiving when the girls are done playing together.
While I could personally have used a long-haired androgynous
boy (or 12) in the pile, I hardly felt cheated because I was just
so tweaked to feast my eyes on men kissing, licking sucking and
fucking each other for a change. Again, we get a whole lot of
diversity, in the actors and actresses and in the sex play and
partner groupings. Bisexual play that LOOKS like bisexual play: who'da thunk it.
Voluptuous Vixens
Curves galore abound in this jobbie, from average to super-sized,
in vignettes paying homage to retro styles and flavors: from fifties
frolics to new-wave tacky. Russ Meyer would be damned proud.
And we all want that, don't we?
While I liked nearly all the segments, my favorite segment by
far was with the uber-zaftig Olivia Luscious and the super-curvy Amy Money wrestling and spanking
on leopard-print, no less, before gloving it up and engaging in
some hot strap-on sex and another great female ejaculation scene
-- turning me puce with envy. Could either of these dames be
any cuter or more sassy? I'm certain they've both raised the
bar here to amazonian proportions. Celestina Meow Meow, also featured in Please Don't Stop, is also an absolute sizzler. Meow, indeed! Per un-usual, the
chicks in the Good Vibes flicks give us perfect orgasms, the real
laughing-crying-squish your forehead, gnash your teeth, giggle-grunt
kind. No fakers here, kids.
A couple of the scenes in this film were just a little too drawn-out
for my own taste, but not enough to even come close to spoiling
the rollicking fun. Don't go expecting the usual prototypical
"fattie" flavor with Vixens -- instead you get real live girls
catting it up proudly with a purr and a bag full of attitude at
every size. It's so rare to see a parade of hot, curvy and fat
women in a sexual milieu that isn't exploitive and that doesn't
leave a bad taste in your mouth: even if this number wasn't hot
as Hades, it'd be refreshing to see. That it is makes it that
much rarer a find. |

I had no trouble whatsoever finding a whole lot to like with all
of these films, and they're all quite different. As both a sex
educator and a safer sex aficionado, I can't keep from pointing
out that safer sex practices abound in these pieces, and they're
a testament to the fact that safe can be REALLY bloody sexy, a
party the mainstream porn world remains far more than fashionably
late in coming to.
As well, I can really appreciate being able to get very real,
genuine and candid sex without having to lose out on the technical
or artistic quality.
Over the years I've heard a lot of our readers, male and female
alike, wishing, hoping and praying for this sort of smut, and
to you I say -- it's out there, baby. What are you waiting for?
Grab it, support it, enjoy it: do not pass go, do not collect
200 other crap porn flicks that barely cut the proverbial mustard.
Good Vibrations has given us a Get Out of Porn Hell Free card,
bless their lusty hearts.
And Trick? I'm now in dire need of a tune-up. And I don't even
have a car. |

12.07.06: Scarlet Letters -- in case it isn't glaringly obvious -- is currently
on an extended hiatus. The web has changed, we've changed, and
we're trying to figure out how we both fit together now, which isn't a process we want to rush.
In the meantime, by all means, enjoy our years of past content,
all of which still remain in the public and subscription areas.
If you're looking for more current SL-related content, you can
have check out upcoming books from editor Heather Corinna and previous co-editor Hanne Blank, check out Heather's current sexuality sites, or explore sites through the femmerotic network. We hope to be back with you soon, as fresh, challenging and
unexpected as ever.
